A statement on the future of Senate House Library will be released by the central University of London on Wednesday December 17^th.

SHL faces a funding crisis after the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) decided not to renew its £1.1m special research library grant earlier this year. It already makes yearly losses of over £1m.

A review group has been considering a range of options, including closing the library completely or a takeover from an individual college, with UCL the frontrunner.

The review group’s final report was presented to UL’s collegiate council on Friday (December 12^th) and it is their decision that is expected later this week.
