4. Christmas
Every year I think how quickly the year has gone, and the next will inevitably go and I get a little melancholy. But then I get so caught up in the fact that IT’S CHRISTMAS that I just don’t really care.
I’m already 9 days into my (two!) advent calendars with only 10 more to go until I’ll be opening them in little old Cornwall. I have film trips, Christmas shopping and wrapping (and, ahem, a research report) to do. And it’s going to be great! Plus, tradition dictates that my cat will wear some sort of festive novelty outfit on Christmas day which I, for one, cannot wait for.
Then I shall be back in London for a LOTR marathon (don’t ask how I got dragged into this – I assume I’ll be laden down with my weight in snacks to pull me through) followed by a Middle-earth induced slumber and then a New Year’s Eve party; my first in London. Whoop! Normally, my NYE is dinner, drinks and board games with my besties which is a lot of fun but it’ll be nice to have a change. Last year descended into the longest game of Trivial Pursuit I have ever played, due to the fact that our combined general knowledge is even poorer under the influence of (far too much) cheap wine. This year, I aim to dance my way into 2013.
I’m in a particularly good mood because I just managed to do my programming coursework without crying. I am not even joking. I’ve had a strangely productive weekend considering I worked until the small hours of Friday evening and have spent the entire of today in my pyjamas. Yay.
Okay. Just one more week to get through: one exam, 2 coursework hand-ins, my lab Christmas dinner, then breathe………IT’S CHRISTMAS!
